Pacific Masters Webmaster Job Description

The job is part time, approximately ten hours a month. The pay will be based on experience. Special projects will be paid on a per hour basis.

Summary of duties:

  • Perform the technical duties related to the administration of the PacMasters website, including interfacing with the hosting service, doing backups, performing updates as needed and maintaining documentation.
  • Provide training and assistance to authorized users for performing various functions on the site.
  • Maintain areas of the website not delegated to other individuals.
  • Maintain email aliases for pacificmasters.org.
  • Attend and report to the PacMasters Swim Committee on web activities at monthly PacMasters Swim Committee meetings.

Special Projects:

Currently the website is running on Drupal 7, which is nearing end-of-life. The new webmaster needs to take on the project of upgrading to Drupal 8 and create a new design for the website. The steps to moving to Drupal 8 involve building a new website, and then migrating over the content from the old website. Other special projects arise from time to time and may be compensated separately.

Qualifications:

It is essential that the candidate is self-directed and can work with little supervision. The candidate needs to be comfortable with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Drupal, and working on a Unix-based system. The candidate should have experience with website hosting, databases, and content management systems.

Additional consideration will also be given to a candidate that is familiar with USMS swimming and in particular with Pacific Masters swimming and the current web site.
