Mike Kazek Wins Pacific Masters Coach of the Year Award

Mike Kazek and John King
Mike Kazek of Cal Maritime Academy Masters (CMAM) has been selected as the Pacific Masters Swimming 2016 Coach of the Year. Coach Kazek formed his club 10 years ago and continues to serve as its coach on a volunteer basis. He is a USMS Level 3 Certified Coach and a recipient of the Kerry O’Brien Coaching Award (2013). Mike is known to provide rides for his swimmers to competitions and practices. CMAM members have responded to his dedication and support with a level of affection for Coach Mike that is truly remarkable.
He served on the planning and construction committee for Cal Maritime’s new 50 meter pool.  Recognizing that local Masters swimmers had few opportunities to race in a long course venue, Mike arranged to make the pool available for the Keelhaulers LCM time trials in May, at the beginning of the long course season.
Mike is an Associate Professor of Engineering Technology at Cal Maritime, a profession he began after a 21 year Coast Guard career. He is the Director of U.S. Coast Guard Licensing Programs at Cal Maritime and was named Faculty Advisor of the Year in 2014 by the Society for Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
Congratulations Coach Mike Kazek, Pacific Masters Swimming 2016 Coach of the Year!
